Abstract

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institutes has released clinical guidelines to arrest the growing proportion of obesity in the US population. The guidelines focused on the primary treatment of the condition and on the role of health practitioners in weight management. All persons with a body mass index of equal to or greater than 25 are targeted. Multidisciplinary treatment options have been identified to provide a holistic approach to treatment.
