Abstract
This paper examines whether we can in general characterize goods as having unambiguous relative factor intensity rankings. We calculate correlation statistics for relative factor intensities for a three-factor, thirty-one good disaggregation of U.S. production. We find that we can generally characterize goods as being either energy intensive or non-energy intensive, but that we can not characterize non-energy intensive goods as being either capital intensive or labor intensive. © 1984.
