Abstract

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends the following: women who have had an infant with a neural tube defect should take 4 mg a day from at least 4 weeks before conception through the first 3 months of pregnancy; all women capable of becoming pregnant should consume 0.4 mg a day.
