Abstract

(C 5 Me 5 R) 2 Ta 2 Cl 4 (d 2 -d 2 ) disproportionates under dinitrogen to [(C 5 Me 4 R)TaCl 2 ] 2 (μ-N 2 ) and the D 3h cluster cation (C 5 Me 4 R) 3 Ta 3 (μ-Cl) 6 + with anionic (C 5 Me 4 R)TaCl 4 − . The d 2 -d 2 organodimetallic (C 5 Me 4 R) 2 Ta 2 (μ-Cl) 4 disproportionates in toluene under N 2 to the new organodimetallic N 2 complex [(C 5 Me 4 R)TaCl 2 ] 2 (μ-N 2 ) and novel organotrimetallic cluster [(C 5 Me 4 R) 3 Ta 3 (μ-Cl) 6 ][(C 5 Me 4 R)TaCl 4 ].
