Abstract
Neurology (R) is about to relaunch its Humanities Section, a popular feature of the journal since its initiation in 2001. It was suspended some months ago following the publication of a story that inadvertently raised concerns about equality and diversity. As befitting the former title of this section, "Reflections," we have spent many hours reflecting upon the mission and meaning of creative writing to our field, and its influence on patients, physicians, and researchers. We seek to recapture these humanistic qualities that speak to the core of our being, and the section will now appear under the revised title of "Humanities in Neurology." In its original conception by David Goldblatt, authors would draw on personal experiences that would provide insights into themselves, their patients, and human relationships. Over the years, this has been done through poetry, creative nonfiction, and short fiction.
