Abstract
In-111-labeled leukocyte imaging is associated with high sensitivity and specificity rates. False-positive studies with In-111-labeled leukocyte imaging and uptake in various noninfectious sites such as fistulas, colostomies, hematomas, recent surgical scars, and intravenous lines have been reported. The need to be aware of these possible findings is emphasized in this report of a patient with false-positive uptake in a hematoma and surgical dressing of an open wound. In-111 leukocyte imaging was done in a patient receiving renal dialysis who had an uninfected open surgical wound at the right knee stump and a superficial hematoma in the left medial thigh. Images must be repeated after the wound dressing is removed.
