Abstract
Co-crystals involving 4,6-dichlororesorcinol (4,6-diCl-res) and 2,9-phenanthroline (2,9-phen) of composition 2(4,6-diCl-res) ··· 2(2,9-phen) ··· (nitromethane) (

) reveal a previously unobserved one-dimensional structural motif that involves a π-stacked columnar polymer held together by O-H···N hydrogen bonds. Each resorcinol participates in short Cl···O contacts and Cl···Cl forces along the polymer backbone. The included nitromethane solvent molecules pack in columns held together by C-H···O forces.
