Abstract
Recent advances in research on infant abilities and attachment, and their relevance to infant psychiatry are reviewed. The diagnosis and etiology of psychiatric disorders in infants and preschool children and effective interventions with this age group are discussed. Specific disorders addressed include persistent infant crying, failure to thrive, autism, and maternal drug abuse
