Influenza Vaccination Coverage Among Pregnant Women - 29 States and New York City, 2009-10 Season

Abstract
Because influenza can be especially severe during pregnancy, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommend influenza vaccination for women who will be pregnant during the influenza season, regardless of trimester. This provides estimates from 29 states and New York City for women who had live births during Sep 2009-May 2010. These findings highlight the need for state-specific strategies that optimize provider involvement to increase influenza vaccination of pregnant women.
