Abstract
Massage, historically categorized as a complementary and alternative therapy, has become increasingly accepted as a mainstream treatment for symptom distress in chronic illness and stress-related conditions. Research repeatedly shows that massage and other forms of touch therapy reduces stress, anxiety, and pain in different age groups in a variety of medical and psychiatric conditions (25-36).
