Introduction: Roth and Women
Philip Roth studies, Vol.8(1), pp.7-15
2012
Abstract
This introduction provides an overview of the critical treatment of the “problem” of women in Philip Roth's writing over the years, with particular emphasis on the accusations of misogyny that have dogged Roth almost throughout his career. The piece, while highlighting some of the more interesting and valuable critical threads, decries the generally shallow consideration critics have given the subject. This issue is a modest attempt to begin to counter that shortcoming.
