Abstract
On a large length scale room-temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) are translationally invariant homogeneous systems suitable for different applications. On smaller length scales they present multiple alternation patterns. Charge alternation can be common in all salts. What is interesting in RTILs is the presence of alternation patterns on longer length scales beyond charge ordering. In this article we describe an improved way of deconstructing the x-ray structure function that clearly shows these longer scale polarity alternations.
