Abstract

Accurate mounting of dental casts on articulators is essential for occlusal analysis and prosthodontic procedures, yet integrating 3-dimensionally (3D) printed casts into conventional articulators remains challenging because of incompatibility with proprietary mounting systems. This technique introduces a cost-effective solution using LEGO components, an open-source software program, and custom 3D printed mounting plates with a calibration device. The workflow involves designing and calibrating mounting plates, printing them with resin, and incorporating LEGO parts for precise positioning. The method ensures reproducible maxillary orientation, accommodates different articulator models, and eliminates reliance on expensive proprietary hardware, facilitating the seamless integration of printed casts into routine clinical and laboratory workflows.
