Abstract
Experiments on the generation and structure of Mach cones in monolayer plasma crystals are presented. The Mach cones are excited using a focused laser beam that was swept through the crystal at supersonic speed in a controlled and repeatable manner. Multiple Mach cones with up to four distinct cones have been observed. The Mach angle relation was verified over a wide range of Mach numbers.
