Abstract

The title triaroylbenzene derivative forms isostructural lattice inclusion adducts with benzene, toluene, nitrobenzene, and DMSO. The host molecules self-assemble via dimeric C−H···O hydrogen bonds to form 2D tapes with guest molecules occupying interlayer cavities. In contrast, a guest-free form of the inclusion host features a centrosymmetric four-point hydrogen-bonding recognition pattern that results in a square grid packing motif.
