Abstract
Investigations were undertaken to determine the lead content of white-tailed deer mandibles and teeth to develop baseline levels for future studies on lead accumulation in the bone and dental tissue of large non-migratory mammals. Samples were collected from 48 deer which had been harvested in several counties in Pennsylvania. There was no significant difference in the lead levels of mandibles compared with teeth. No significant difference occurred between lead concentrations in deer from the six counties.
