Measurement of the inclusive K SO branching fraction in τ decay

Abstract
The inclusive production of K
S
O mesons τ lepton decay has been studied using the high resolution spectrometer at the PEP e
+e
− storage ring operated at √
s=29 GeV. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 300pb
−1. The measured branching fraction is B(
τ
−→K
S
OX
−
ν
τ
) = (0.64±0.15)%. The measurement is consistent with all K
S
O coming from the Cabibbo-suppressed decay
τ
−→
K
∗−(890)ν
τ
with a branching ratio of (1.9±0.3±0.4)%.
