Abstract
As the treatment of meniscal tears has advanced from open resection to arthroscopic preservation when appropriate, several techniques for arthroscopic meniscal repair have developed. The outside-in meniscal repair technique was developed to decrease the complications and morbidity associated with previous techniques and can be utilized for the majority of meniscal tears that are amendable to repair. The technique may be best suited for tears of the anterior and middle thirds or in combination with other techniques for meniscal allograft transplants or synthetic meniscal replacements. Reported healing rates have met or exceeded those of other techniques.
