Abstract
The Devon Great Consols mine in Devon, England, was responsible for much of the wealth of William Morriss family. The impact of Morriss association with the mine on the development of his political ideals is examined. The history of the mine before, during and after Morriss directorship is discussed in order to understand its influence on his political views. His writings are considered to help with analysis.
