Abstract
Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are rare neoplasms that may be associated with hereditary cancer syndromes, such as multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) and von Hippel-Lindau (VHL). However, NETs have also been observed at higher than expected rates in families without known familial cancer syndromes. We investigated the genetic basis of familial NETs using exome sequencing.
