Abstract
Sternoclavicular septic arthritis is an unusual condition that accounts for approximately 0.5% to 1% of all infectious arthritis and accounts only 23% in nonrisk factor, immunocompetent patients. In contrast to other septic arthritis, the presentation was likely to be more subacute presentation. Cardinal signs of infection were not present in most of the cases. A high index of suspicion is needed to establish a diagnosis because an insidious onset, false-negative physical findings, and inconclusive results from computed tomographic scan are common, as in this presented case. Familiarity with the diagnosis is paramount to proceed to magnetic resonance imaging with prompt surgical debridement to reduce mortality from complications of disease
