Abstract
We propose a new integral equation description of three-body scattering which has a noncompact kernel. It is shown that one can impose supplemental boundary conditions which select the unique, physical solution. To demonstrate that the equation has a form convenient for numerical calculation, we utilize the equation to calculate numerical results for nd quartet elastic scattering at energies below the threshold for three-body breakup. The solutions are accurate and stable, even at energies near the three-body breakup threshold. Comparison is made with previously published numerical calculations employing s-wave local potentials. © 1984 The American Physical Society.
