Abstract
Knowledge of the degree of impairment of different organ systems can lead to better planning and postoperative management of the geriatric patient by the oral and maxillofacial surgeon. The objective of improved postoperative management is ultimately to reduce the risk of morbidity and mortality in this growing surgical population.
