Abstract
Panic disorder clearly increases the risk for death by suicide; the predictors of this outcome are likely to remain obscure, however. A smaller group of studies suggests increased mortality due to cardiovascular disease and all positive studies limit this excess to men. The intervening morbid processes are unknown but apparently quite insidious.
