Abstract

Paradoxical vocal cord motion (PVCM) is characterized by the inappropriate adduction of the vocal folds on inspiration. It is an often misdiagnosed condition. The etiology of PVCM is multifactorial. Recognition of the multiple causes of PVCM allows a well-directed diagnostic evaluation and treatment strategy.
