Abstract

The article examines the precarious position of literary studies and philology within universities, questioning their future amid declining humanities enrollments and political and cultural shifts. Topics include the challenges of sustaining philology and pedagogy in modern academia, the role of critical and theoretical approaches in shaping interpretation and authority, and the potential of classrooms and archives to preserve and advance humanities scholarship.
