Abstract
TEACHING POINTS
■ A wide range of tumors can occur within the ventricular system of the brain in children and adults, and the ability to differentiate among the types of tumors based on imaging characteristics, location, and patient age is essential to determine appropriate treatment or follow-up.
■ Although some tumors most commonly occur in an extraventricular location (eg, meningioma, metastasis, and glioma), it is important to consider an uncommon location of a more common entity when an intraventricular mass is encountered at imaging.
■ It is essential to narrow the differential diagnosis and include uncommon entities, when appropriate, to aid pathologists in choosing specific stains and genetic tests.
