Abstract
This article entails studying the inconstant using the unwieldy in Unison. Although family communication research has changed from seeing its role as understanding families to making a difference in the lives of families, new methods are needed to examine the family, even as it does a Proteus on them and changes shape as they grasp it. However, to move beyond the castle walls and to make a difference in family lives, one must accept that family communication is only a part of the picture, does not define families, and in no sensible interpretation at all constitutes families for society as units.
