Abstract
The Workshop was held with the continuing support of S. Karger AG at the annual meeting of the J.B. Johnston Club: its theme was 'Development and Evolution' as they pertain to the nervous system. The workshop brought together colleagues from invertebrate, chordate and various vertebrate areas. These investigators primarily addressed the emerging issue of how the molecular revolution may shed light not only on the developmental processes active in nervous system formation but also on how modifications of these processes produce the bewildering variation that these systems display.
