Abstract
While music therapy practice should ideally be based on sound research findings, in the field of learning disabilities, basing practice on theory can be difficult since the research is often confusing if not conflicting. This paper presents an overview of the three prominent theories in learning disabilities, suggested music therapy approaches reflecting each theory, and additional recommendations for music therapy programming with the learning disabled.
