Recurrence of a meningioma at an extracranial site

Abstract
A case of recurrent extracranial meningioma is presented. This meningioma occurred beneath the scalp outside an acrylic cranioplastic implant, and without evidence of intracranial recurrence of the tumor. From this observation, it is evident that the pericranium must be carefully inspected at the time of operation to be certain that all grossly visible tumor has been removed. Previous reports of recurrent intracranial meningiomas are reviewed.
