Abstract

Benign duodenal stenosis is most commonly seen as a complication of peptic ulcer disease. Medical treatments include acid-blocking agents and eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection. While endoscopic balloon dilatation is an effective treatment modality, frequent dilations and ultimately surgical repair are often needed for refractory cases. The role of liquid nitrogen spray-assisted cryoablation has been explored in certain respiratory and anastomotic gastrointestinal strictures. We report a case of persistent benign duodenal stenosis successfully treated with liquid nitrogen spray cryotherapy.
