Abstract
This study examined the usefulness of an instrument designed to measure rehabilitation counselors' awareness, knowledge, and skills regarding twice exceptionality. Further, the study examined whether or not the counselors' awareness, knowledge, and skills differed depending upon their prior awareness of the term twice-exceptional and the training they received in their preparation programs regarding twice-exceptional consumers. Findings indicate that there are five primary areas of awareness, knowledge, and skills rehabilitation counselors have in working with this population. Rehabilitation counselors with prior awareness of twice-exceptionality had higher levels of awareness, knowledge, and skills pertaining to this population. Implications for practicing rehabilitation professionals, rehabilitation preparation programs, and for future research are included. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
