Abstract
Based on Mackey's theory of induced representations [G. W. Mackey, Induced Representation of Groups and Quantum Mechanics (Benjamin, New York, 1968)] a Bakamjian-Thomas [B. Bakamjian and L. H. Thomas, Phys. Rev. 92, 1300 (1953)] procedure for introducing interactions into n-body relativistic systems is formulated. The resulting models have manifest symmetries under exchange of identical particles and space reflection. The two-body interactions in the n-body equations are separately scattering equivalent to the input two-body interactions, but n-body dynamics does not satisfy the necessary cluster separability properties. The nature of the corrections needed to restore cluster properties is discussed.
