Abstract
Chemical equations presented. A resorcinol achieves a templated stereospecific and near-quantitative synthesis of a cofacial terpyridine in the solid state. The solid-state synthesis occurs in one-dimensional π-stacked columns with reactivities highly sensitive to peripheral groups attached to the template. © 2011 American Chemical Society.
