Abstract
As an associate editor for EM:IP these past 3 years, I have had the opportunity to review and reflect upon a variety of manuscripts. Consistent with the journal's mission statement, most manuscripts strive to provide a better understanding of educational measurement issues. However, few address the practical importance to educators and users of assessment information. Based on interactions with practicing K-12 teachers over this same period of time, I use this opportunity to suggest that teachers, as the largest audience of educational assessment results, can help the measurement community identify the issues of greatest importance and shape our responses to these issues.
