Abstract
Sarcoidosis can be a chronic disease that affects multiple organs and results in debilitating symptoms. The disease has significant morbidity and is fatal in rare cases. There is increasing recognition of the various factors contributing to morbidity including organ dysfunction due to granulomatous inflammation, fatigue, pain, depression, treatment side effects, and comorbidities. Understanding the complexities of decreased function and quality of life may help tailor treatment and management modalities. In this clinical review, we aim to highlight the global burden of sarcoidosis and review newer developments in the recognition and management of morbidity in those affected.
