Abstract
Polish nominal soft stems & their abstractness are analyzed within the framework of cyclic phonology. The basic assumptions of the theory of cyclic phonology are presented, the structure of Polish phonology is described, & soft stems are considered. A taxonomy of soft stems is outlined & morphological aspects of Polish soft stems are detailed. The strict cyclicity principle is modified to account for the Polish data & the descriptive adequacy of cyclic phonology is noted. 13 References. Z. Dubiel
