Abstract

The authors discuss their experiences of working in a massive open online course (MOOC) on poet Walt Whitman's poem "Song of Myself," noting that their roles as teacher and student were reversed as one author worked as a teacher in the MOOC while also taking a graduate course taught by the other author. Topics addressed include the online comments posted by students in the MOOC, as well as considerations of what makes a real reader.
