Abstract
This is an official statement of School Psychology, Division 16 of the American Psychological Association, and does not represent the position of the American Psychological Association or any of its other divisions or subunits.
Impact and Implications
For school psychologists, school violence prevention must address the physical and psychological safety needs of students, teachers, staff, families, and community members. School psychologists must utilize research-based practices that reduce violence and avoid relying on exclusionary methods that may increase the likelihood of future school isolation and violence.
