Abstract
Sexual minorities often experience more life stressors compared to their heterosexual counterparts, which can hinder their social well-being. This study examined the predictive power of stressors and resources on sexual minorities’ social well-being. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis was conducted using a sample of 1424 cisgender individuals who identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or other non-heterosexual orientations (LGB+). Results indicated that chronic strains, felt stigma, and everyday discrimination negatively predicted sexual minority participants’ social well-being, whereas social support from friends and community connectedness were positive predictors of social well-being. Implications for supporting the social well-being of sexual minorities are discussed.
