Abstract
We provide a review that describes the design and formation of supramolecular ladders in the solid state. Supramolecular ladders have been reported in the context of both metal-organic and purely organic single- and multiple-component solids. Supramolecular ladders are based on self-assembly processes propagated both finitely and infinitely. We focus on the properties that such ladders provide solids, as well as applications in the context of predictable dimensional design. © 2006 American Chemical Society.
