Abstract

The deposition of Ti following the implantation of porous-rooted Ti dental implants was studied in the mandibles of 3 adult Rhesus monkeys. The implants were in place for 52–76 months. The effects of deposition of Ti were studied in a variety of major organ systems. Atomic absorption spectrophotometry revealed the presence of minute concentrations of Ti in only the lungs of both control (unimplanted) and experimental (implanted) animals.
