Abstract
An irreversible thermodynamic model is used to predict the mineralogical composition and sequence of mantles which occur around sillimanite segregations in a pelitic matrix. The predicted textures are compared with those observed in pelitic schists of the lower sillimanite zone near Rangeley, Maine.
