Abstract

The cycloaddition reaction of (Z)-1,1,2,5,5,5-hexafluoro-4-phenyl-3-trifluoromethyl-1,3-pentadiene (1) with pyridine gave a major and minor product. Crystal structures identified the major product to be the racemate of the diastereomer (1S,9aR)-3-fluoro-9a-hydro-1,2-bistrifluoromethyl-1-phenyl-4H-quinolizin-4-one (2), (C17H10F7NO), and the minor product to be the racemate of the diastereomer (1S,9aS)- 3-fluoro-9a-hydro-1,2-bistrifluoromethyl-1-phenyl-4H-quinolizin-4-one (3), (C17H10F7NO).
