Abstract
ABSTRACT
The Iowa Center for Pharmaceutical Care (ICPC) is a collaborative partnership between Iowa's two colleges of pharmacy and the state pharmacists' association. To provide historical perspective, a discussion of the colleges' objectives and practice-related issues resulting in the development of the ICPC is included. The education and training program originally developed and used to convert more than 150 community pharmacy practices to a pharmaceutical care model and eventually acquired by the American Pharmaceutical Association is described. Impact on practitioners, the state association, colleges, faculty, and students, along with limitations of the implementation model and future activities of the ICPC are also addressed.
