Abstract
This article reviews recent advances in the neuropsychological literature on aging, emphasizing trends that reflect promising directions for continued research. These include characterization of patterns of age-related cognitive change, identification of underlying cognitive/neurobiological mechanisms contributing to performance decline, clarification of individual differences affecting age-related cognitive change, and development of adequate norms for clinical neuropsychological tests.
