The spherical capacitor: a vehicle to introduce numerical methods

Abstract
Numerical methods are frequently introduced to the undergraduate Electrical and Computer Engineering student in the first course in electromagnetic theory. In this note, we demonstrate that a spherical capacitor can be first solved analytically and then compared with an easily obtained numerical solution.
