Abstract
Language corruption and moral corruption are the twin children of the ideology of technical rationality, Nelson argues. Mann, Ellul, Marcuse, and Sykes teach concerning the dominance by technique, and he uses and joins them to ask if there can be hope. Is it possible that the language of a culture can provide a fundamental critique of that culture and a vision beyond it? Perhaps the artist can renovate language, recapturing the expressive, to lead us beyond technical rationality. The author's possibility of hope for political renewal focuses on revitalization of our political language.
