Abstract
Nurse leaders continue to seek innovative care delivery models (CDMs) that can provide quality patient care amid ongoing workforce challenges. Through interviews with 34 nurse leaders in 25 states, this study examined innovations in CDMs within acute care settings. Identified innovations included virtual nursing, expanded Registered Nurse support, and universal bed model. By deepening our understanding of how CDMs are evolving, this research provides details on CDM innovations that deliver high-quality care while balancing resources and cost constraints. Expanding on existing CDM definitions and identifying elements for standardization and evaluation are essential next steps to ensure ongoing improvements and outcomes.
